At Izardair's Flight Training centre you can train for a Private Pilot's Licence, a Commercial Licence, or convert your overseas licence to a proper Kiwi PPL.

Trial lessons are available so you can get an idea of the thrill of it all before you commit to a course of lessons.

Trial Flight

$140 Per Person

Your experienced instructor will introduce you to the controls and basic aircraft operation.  Once airborne, your instructor will demonstrate straight and level flight, and a few turns; you will then have the opportunity to have a go, as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.  Enjoy the added bonus of the amazing scenery below.

Approximately 30 mins flight time. 

Starter Training Pack

$1,000 Per Person

If you are interested in learning to fly, this package will help you decide if you wish to take your new-found skill to the next level. This package includes five intensive training flight lessons. Your instructor will work with you at your own pace. You will also receive a free log book to start tallying up your flight hours.

Sky's The Limit

$3,000 Per Person

Includes our Starter Training pack, with continued intensive flight training up to solo stage. A log book is included for recording your flight hours.

Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL)

Approximately $15,000

Obtaining your full Private Pilot’s Licence , in accordance with the Civil Aviation Rules, requires a minimum of 50 hours flight training. The approximate cost of obtaining you PPL will be around $15,000. This includes study books, examination fees, landing fees, Class 2 Medical Examination and a Flight Test. Your individual ability and progress may require some additional flight training time beyond the required 50 hours.

Alternatively, the below aircraft are available for flight training, based on hourly rates, or part thereof (Hobbs):

Cessna 172; ZK-COS | $270 per hour - dual

Chris Blyth is our Chief Flight Training Instructor and has been flying for more than 30 years. He has a vast range of experience, having flown many different aircraft in all environments and conditions. He is a patient, friendly and cheerful instructor with a good sense of humour - but one who will see to it that you do the job properly.
